Photo gallery: Dozens of Neo-Nazi groups called “Reichsbürger” (literally, “citizens of the Reich”) organized a protest in Berlin parallel to the one in Cassel which made the headlines on March 20th, 2021.

In Berlin, only 100-200 right-wing extremists assembled around the Brandenburg Gate and in the Tiergarten, against 1,800 police forces and 300 antifascists. The “Reichsbürger” did not have any precise claims and did not focus their protest against Corona and the lockdown; instead, many bore Nazi flags and symbols, and some made the Hitler salute. Recurrent slogans were “Nationalsocialism now!”, “Free, social, national” and “Who doesn’t love Germany should leave!”. Many of them drunk and angry, they attacked journalists and antifascist protesters with their fists or by throwing beer bottles, roaming around Berlin’s streets after the demonstration was dissolved by the police for not respecting the sanitary rules. Antifacists staged a counter-demonstration and protested at various locations, sometimes leading to sporadic fights.
